Steve Clemons is Senior Fellow and Director of Foreign Policy Programs at the New America Foundation, a centrist think tank in Washington, DC. Clemons also publishes the popular political blog, The Washington Note, and is a regular, featured contributor at TPMCafe, HuffingtonPost, the American Strategist, and the Palestine Note. Clemons previously served as Executive Vice President of the Economic Strategy Institute; was Senior Foreign Policy and Economic Advisor to Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM); was founding executive director of the Nixon Center; served for seven years as Executive Director of the Japan America Society of Southern California and was the founding Director of the Japan Policy Research Institute. We writes and speaks regularly on a wide variety of foreign policy and economic policy challenges — including a high priority on American engagement in the Middle East.
