Israeli authories opened the Kerem Shalom crossing Tuesday, a move that should allow 102-113 truckloads of aid and commerical items into Gaza, Ma’an News Agency reports.

Trucks at the Karem Shalom crossing
In addition to two trucks of equipment for the Gaza Power Authority, Palestinian official Raed Fattouh said that domestic gas and industrial fuel are expected to enter Gaza through the crossing. Meanwhile, carnations and strawberries from Gaza will cross out of Kerem Shalom as exports under a Dutch government program.

Among the expected imports are two trucks of materials for the Gaza
Power Authority, whose power supply was described as "precarious" by a
weekly report by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian
Affairs (OCHA).
"Recurrent technical failures caused by the
lack of spare parts due to the Israeli-imposed blockade," caused
blackouts several times during the previous week, OCHA said.
"As
a result, the GPP was forced to reduce its electricity production from
60 MW (megawatts) to 30 MW between 12 and 14 February, triggering long
rolling scheduled blackouts of up to 12 hours during the two days," the
report explained.

Limited quantities of domestic gas and industrial fuel will be pumped
into Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing, Fattouh added.
