Following Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas' visit to Sochi in January, senior-most Hamas member Khaled Masha'al arrived in Moscow Monday to discuss the inter-PA reconciliation and the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, Ma'an News Agency reports.

Russia's foreign minister Sergei Levrov has assured Hamas that Russia supports Palestinian political reconciliation.

Excerpt:

Mash'al told the Russian newspaper Vremya Novostei that "it is possible to restore cohesion between the Palestinians if the US desists from obstructing the end of division."

The Hamas leader added that the second obstacle remained "adjustments that were made to the terms of the Egyptian reconciliation proposal."
